Atom and I have birthdays that are a day apart. We went to Vegas for our birthday weekend, and this is what transpired:

We went out to dinner at Nobu for my birthday. About halfway through the totally amazing dinner, he got up to go to the bathroom. I saw him say something to our waiter on the way back in, but he quickly explained that he'd told him it was my birthday and that they were going to make a little birthday dessert for me. I thought, oh great, they're going to sing some lame birthday song and make a big fuss. Little did I know...

The waiter came over a little while after we finished dinner with a plate that had a bit of ice cream, cake, and a candle on it. As he set it down, he said, "don't forget to look in here" and pointed at a small leaf on the plate. Inside the leaf was the ring! My jaw dropped and then so did Atom, as he got down on one knee and proposed. I, being a big ol' sap, teared up and of course said yes. The funniest part was that some loud drunk lady across the aisle from us was saying "she'd better say yes!" over and over, and then finally shouted, "I have one question - did she say yes?" We both replied, "YES!" and the whole restaurant applauded. Ah, Vegas.
